Breathing is something most of us take for granted. As long as we’re alive and not gasping for breath we think there is no issue. However, due to the many stresses of the 21st century lifestyle, many of us develop dysfunction of our posture and breathing mechanics. These issues have surprisingly far-reaching effects, extending to every body system. Unfortunately they are often poorly identified or understood, and so effective management is never truly achieved.
We look at the whole person attached to the symptoms, not just the symptoms. Our non-invasive, painless assessment enables us to identify a range of health issues and how these may be best addressed. We can help you gain a greater understanding of your body, and show you how you can breathe your way to better health.
We specialise in the natural management of a variety of breathing disorders and other conditions such as:
- Snoring and sleep apnoea
- Chronic tiredness
- Anxiety and panic attacks
- Night-time toilet trips in adults
- Bed wetting in children
- Digestive disorders (e.g. reflux, constipation, bloating)
- Mouthbreathing, especially in children
- Breathing difficulties during sport and exercise
We are able to address issues in children and adults. If appropriate we work in consultation with other relevant healthcare providers such as dentists, foot and gait specialists, nutritionists, etc.
We are often asked if this is the Buteyko Breathing Method. We are trained and qualified as Buteyko breathing practitioners, but we believe the Buteyko method has some flaws and limitations. We have therefore removed, modified, enhanced and added a lot to create a comprehensive program that helps to ensure the best and most stable outcome.
View this video for a detailed introduction to the Breathing Well program which we have developed over the last decade.
We can assist people with generalised breathing dysfunction as described above, but we can also help people to manage lung conditions such as asthma, emphysema, bronchiectasis and chronic bronchitis. Education on medication use can also be provided.
